Man accused of helping hide body of girlfriend’s daughter sent to jail but could get out

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The man ticketed for allegedly helping hide the body of his girlfriend’s daughter was taken to jail Friday, April 5, after he appeared in Syracuse City Court.
27-year-old Corrice Parks was arraigned on charges of concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
Police and prosecutors say Parks helped 29-year-old Latasha Mott dispose of her daughter’s body in the woods behind an old baseball field off Salt Springs Road in Syracuse.
Mott is accused of manslaughter based on evidence she beat her daughter, 5-year-old Nefertiti Harris, to death. The beating, court documents show, happened in January, but the girl wasn’t reported missing to police until late March.
Mott is in custody.
Parks was taken into custody because of what’s explained as a legal loophole. Because of a criminal past, the city-level judge who arraigned him Friday could not set bail and had to lock him up. It’s expected that the next level, county court, will set bail once it’s requested or release Parks.
Syracuse Police found the girl’s body after three days of searching. Her funeral was held on Friday.
