Late Winter Feel to Start the Weekend
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – Showers accompanied by strong winds is making for a chilly and messy weekend, but milder air is on the way for next week. Details are below…
Howling winds Saturday
It’s very windy, 40+ mph gusts, and turning chillier Friday night with another round of mainly rain for most, but rain could change to snow early Saturday morning over the hills. There MAY even be a light snow accumulation across the higher terrain!
Rain and snow taper Saturday afternoon, but it remains chilly with highs likely not getting out of the 40s. Gusty winds over 40 mph at times Saturday accentuate the chill to start the weekend making it feel closer to 30 much of Saturday. That makes for a very raw start to the weekend. Wayne and Seneca counties are both in a Wind Advisory until 6pm Saturday.
Any better Sunday?
Eh… depends on how you look at it. It’s not as windy or chilly Sunday, but we’re still dealing with rounds or rain showers and possible thunder too. We’re forecasting a high temperature on Sunday of 59, but if it becomes warmer, that would allow for a greater possibility of thunderstorms.
We would say we don’t really catch a weather break until early next week when we get more sun and moderating temperatures.
Mild start to next week
As the showers taper off late Sunday night into Monday, high pressure moves in out of the west and rests in the Great Lakes region. Milder temperatures arrive along with the high pressure with highs in the low 60s for Monday.
The high pressure tracks south of us into central Pennsylvania as high temperatures Tuesday rise to the mid-60s.
