Gov. Hochul talks Eclipse preparations

Editor’s Note: Hochul’s remarks will be live streamed on this page at approximately 1:00 p.m.

ROCHESTER, N.Y (WROC) – The April 8 Eclipse is just a day away, and Governor Kathy Hochul plans to address the state with remarks on preparations for the celestial event.

The eclipse will take around two hours to pass across all of New York State, with only a brief window of being in the path of totality. State officials say they have been planning for the eclipse for 18 months.

With visitors from out of town continuing to make their way into the Rochester region, traffic experts are urging those traveling this weekend to do so with caution.

With the large number of people traveling into the state, several concerns sprout ranging from road safety to resource and emergency preparation, and even how one can protect their eyes with Eclipse-viewing glasses.

Those traveling from outside New York to view the eclipse are encouraged to “arrive early and stay late.” The state has a website set up dedicated to the eclipse, such as glasses, merchandise, and a music playlist.

You can watch Governor Hochul’s remarks on state eclipse preparations here at 1 p.m.
