Dry and chilly tonight, but damper changes ahead

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – It was a terrific Tuesday, but changes are ahead midweek. What are those changes? Details are below…

Chilly and stays dry tonight

High pressure providing us with the nice weather the last couple of days is slowly sliding away tonight into Wednesday but stays close enough to the area to keep us dry, chilly and mainly clear tonight.

Lows drop into the mid 30s with areas of frost possible south and east of Syracuse in the normally colder spots.

Rain chances return midweek

Wednesday starts cool, possibly a bit frosty for some too, and pretty sunny. We’ll notice high clouds become thicker towards lunch time into the afternoon in advance of a weakening storm system coming in from the west.

Between about 1 and 4 pm, some rain will try to move in from west to east over central New York as the weakening storm system slides closer.

Highs Wednesday top out in the upper 50s to mid-60s before the rain moves in during the afternoon. Once the rain moves in temperatures likely fall back into the mid-50s for most by the late afternoon/evening.

Wet, breezy Thursday

Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning is showery, but showers tend to taper Thursday afternoon to a bit of drizzle or a few spotty light showers. Still, though, Thursday looks to be the dampest day of the week.

Thanks to all the clouds and showers Thursday, highs will struggle to get out of the 50s for most.

Any better Friday?

Friday does looks a little drier and brighter at least to start, but during the midday and afternoon an approaching cold front will likely trigger some showers mainly in the afternoon.

Highs on Friday should get back into the low to mid 60s, but cooler air returns for the weekend with a stiff, cool wind and highs dipping back into the low to mid 50s despite some sunshine.
