Your Stories Q&A: Another Taco Bell coming to DeWitt?

TOWN OF DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – You ask, we answer!

There’s a plan to bring new life to an old, vacant restaurant off of Bridge Street in DeWitt.

The Hospitality Restaurant Group (HRG), which operates more than 100 Taco Bells nationwide, is proposing to build a location at 5840 Bridge Street. The location is not far from I-690 and close to NewsChannel 9 studios.

The building has been empty for years. Before its current state, different restaurants called it home, including Carmella’s Cafe and Mixer’s.

Mike McCracken, director of development for HRG, said the proposal before the Town of DeWitt is to open a 2,650-square-foot Taco Bell with a drive-thru. McCraken said the drive-thru could have two lanes to ease traffic in the area.

McCracken said the plan is in the early stages.

He said one of the major hurdles that needs to be cleared for the proposal to become a reality is figuring out how customers will be able to enter and exit the property.

He said HRG is asking for a new entry and exit point off Enterprise Parkway.

McCracken said if the Taco Bell is approved, it will look similar to the one the company owns on Thompson Road in DeWitt.

HRG is the same company proposing to bring a Taco Bell Cantina to the former firehouse in the Village of Manlius.

HRG also operates a Taco Bell in DeWitt off of Erie Boulevard near Sky Zone. It’s not clear if that location would be impacted in the event the Bridge Street project is approved.
