Winter Storm Alerts for weekend storm across CNY

SYRACUSE, N.Y.(WSYR-TV) — The National Weather Service has issued new Winter Storm Warnings for Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and northern Oneida Counties from 5pm Friday until 2pm Saturday.

There are Winter Weather Advisories as well for Wayne, northern Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, and southern Oneida counties from 5pm Friday until 2pm Saturday.

Wet snow moves into central New York Friday evening and continues through the night. In the warned areas there could be 8-12″ of snow by midday Saturday with a widespread 4-8″ of snow elsewhere.

Farther south, including southern Onondaga County and closer to the Southern Tier, there will be more of a rain/snow mix perhaps even some freezing rain which will keeps snow totals down. A change in the temperatures by just a degree or two could cause more snow and less rain so stay tuned for updates.
