Syracuse preparing for second-round matchup against UConn in NCAA Tournament

Tell your story.  That’s been the message of the Syracuse women’s basketball team all season long.

After picking up their first NCAA Tournament win under Felisha Legette-Jack, SU looks to write another chapter in round two of the Big Dance.  This chapter, though, is about trying to slay Goliath in the 11-time National Champion UConn on their home floor Monday night, March 25.

“There has to be a time when others step up, too, right? And in order to do that, you got to go and continue to respect those in front of you with grace and humility,” said Syracuse head coach Felisha Legette-Jack. “But you’ve got to have a fire in your belly that you want it for your team and your program as well.”

The Orange’s last win over the Huskies came back in 1996. UConn hasn’t lost to Syracuse in Storrs since 1992.

The players are also relishing in their role as the underdog.

“At the end of the day, they’re just another team,” said junior guard Georgia Woolley “And we just focus on who we are, and we’re going to go out there and play who we are against them. It’s not about what they’ve done in the past. It’s about right now.”

The game will tip off at 6 p.m. on Monday and will be shown on ESPN.
