Sun returns on Saturday but for how long?

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – While Friday ended up rather chilly in central New York, it looks like temperatures moderate this weekend. Find out more below…

A more seasonable holiday weekend…

The 60s of just a couple of days ago in Syracuse are just a memory and we are now settling in for more seasonable weather heading into the holiday weekend.

Not only does Saturday end up with temperatures a few degrees warmer than we experienced on Friday, there is less wind too. Most end up in the mid to upper 40s.

After a cloudy start Saturday, we expect the middle of the day to feature a good deal of sun.  That sun fades behind increasing clouds later in the day as the next system approaches us.

Some wet weather grazes central New York

Although it is a dry start to the weekend, an area of low pressure approaching us from the Ohio River Valley should bring some rain to our doorstep by Saturday evening then into central New York at night.

It is a sharp gradient between dry and wet weather, however. North of Syracuse over the counties east of Lake Ontario it could end up dry. Meanwhile, there could be some wet snow mixed in as well over the hills south of Syracuse.

The good news is this low-pressure system scoots quickly to our east overnight Saturday so outside a lingering flurry for easter egg hunts of church services our Sunday is dry.

The sun returns Sunday afternoon and that should be enough to boost us into the mid to upper 40s.

Next week looks unsettled

Another weak system passes close by Monday with the threat of some showers, but a stronger system heads our way starting Tuesday. This is the beginning of a damp stretch of weather taking us through the midweek.

It cools off too with means we could also be looking at some wet snow at times so make sure you check back for updates.
