Marquardt Switches moving out of Cazenovia, jobs will be impacted

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Marquardt Switches Inc. announced on March 22 that they will be relocating from their Cazenovia site, to Irapuato, Mexico.

The company has been in Cazenovia for about 40 years, making switches for everything from the automotive industry to household and garden appliances to medical technology. In 2022, announcing it would be bringing jobs to Cazenovia as that facility jumps into drone technology.

The company wrote in part, “Several factors have contributed to these measures. The global economy has been challenging, resulting in persistently low order levels. Additionally, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, along with geopolitical tensions, wars, and rising costs for materials, energy, and personnel, have all played a role in recent years.”

Now, about 180 jobs are expected to be lost by the end of the transition period, and around 60 jobs will remain in Cazenovia.

They aim to complete all planned relocation activities by mid-2025

The company says some service, sales, and development functions will remain in Cazenovia, while equipment manufacturing will continue and remain completely in Cazenovia.
