Downtown Syracuse celebrating 20th Dining Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – From cake and coffee to burgers and beer– Friday, March 1, will mark 20 years of downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks!
Coffee is a must for many, especially when you have two weeks of downtown dining deals ahead! The Cake Bar is using this year’s dining weeks to launch its newest addition… breakfast.
“We have bagel breakfast, some Vietnamese-inspired toast, like ube coconut and crumble toast. So every customer, if they get a breakfast item, they get 50% off on coffee menu,” Ivory Huynh, manager at The Cake Bar, said.
Reservations for places that take them are suggested as Dining Week is a busy stretch of the year for the 46 restaurants participating.
“I think it really rallies people to come downtown and support some of these local restaurants, and restaurants kind of supporting each other. And I know a lot of people make it a point to go out almost every night and try this place and then try that place and where should we go next?” Alexis Colton, the Marketing and Events Manager at Talking Cursive Brewing Company, said.
Dining Week gives diners a full menu of places to sample.
“We always have a lot of new customers that come in, and they say, ‘I didn’t know you were here.’ So, it’s really good exposure, and it’s also a really good community feeling, kind of being a part of that.,” Colton said.
Along with pleasing the palette, something to tease the brain, like, how did they get that name?
“So, it actually comes from a quote where it’s actually a Dean Martin quote where he says, ‘I’m not slurring my words. I’m just talking cursive,’” Colton explained.
So, launch your day with a latte and close it with a cocktail. Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks start on March 1 and go until March 14. You can find more information by clicking here.
