Tucker Earns Preseason All-ACC from Media Voters

Sean Tucker was picked to the media’s Preseason All-ACC Team on Wednesday, the latest in a long line of preseason accolades for the star back.

Tucker was the lone player represented on the list, despite the Orange having multiple returning First Team All-ACC selections from last year’s postseason All-ACC squad. Preseason honors were determined by a vote of 164 media members, the group was comprised of those who were credentialed for last week’s ACC Football Kickoff event in Charlotte.

Tucker also collected 11 votes for ACC Preseason Player of the Year, an honor that went to NC State quarterback Devin Leary.

The Owings Mills, Maryland native is on the preseason watch lists for the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards. He was a semifinalist for both awards last season and is also on numerous preseason All-America teams after his record-shattering 2021 season.

His 1,496 rushing yards set a new program record. The top offensive vote getter on the 2021 All-ACC team, Tucker also broke Syracuse’s single-season record with nine 100+ yard rushing games and became the first player in program history to rush for 100+ yards and have 100+ yards receiving in the same game when he did so against UAlbany. He was a First Team All-American by the Football Writers of America Association, second team All-American by the Associated Press, Walter Camp Foundation and American Football Coaches Association of the consensus teams.

Syracuse Athletics has setup an official Heisman Trophy campaign for Tucker, combining his number (34) with his fan-favorite catchphrase ‘pleased with my performance’ in his postgame tweets. #PL34SED will be the tag line for the campaign, with Cuse.com/PL34SED serving as the microsite for Tucker all season.
