Bolinsky Represents 'Cuse on Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

Senior long snapper Aaron Bolinsky was placed on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List on Thursday.
Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.
“I continue to be impressed with the number of college football players who are achieving on the field and still dedicating time to make a positive impact in their community,” said Wuerffel. “The student-athletes on this watch list are positively impacting organizations throughout the country.”
A recipient of the ACC’s Top Six for Service Award this past year for his community service efforts, he joins 114 other players from the FBS in making the summer watch list. He is also a nominee for the American Football Coaches Association’s Good Works Team.
Bolinsky, an accounting and finance major, has served as president of the Syracuse Chapter of Uplifting Athletes, which is a nonprofit organization made up of a national network of chapters dedicated to inspiring the rare-disease community through the power of sport, since 2020-21. One of Bolinsky’s main functions as president is to organize the 2022 “Lift for Life,” which was held Tuesday, July 19 at the Lally Athletics Complex.
He has also served as the vice president of Syracuse’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). As an active participant of that group’s outreach efforts, he has made children’s hospital visits, donation drives and virtual book readings to children. He has also completed over 60 hours volunteering with his local fire department back home in Pennsylvania.
On the field, Bolinsky has been a key member of the special teams unit for the past four years. He has snapped for All-American specialists Andre Szmyt, Nolan Cooney and Sterling Hofrichter. Bolinsky has six career tackles, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery in punt coverage.
Bolinsky is the fourth member of the Orange to be on a total of seven watch lists thus far, with multiple announcements remaining this summer. Sean Tucker is up for the Maxwell and Doak Walker Awards, Mikel Jones is on the watch lists for both the Bronco Nagurski Trophy and Butkus Award, and Szmyt is on the Lou Groza Award Watch List.
