Estarfaa Joins Women's Basketball Staff

Blair Estarfaa has joined the Syracuse women’s basketball staff as the program’s video coordinator. Estarfaa comes to The Hill from Buffalo where he spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach on Felisha Legette-Jack‘s staff at Buffalo and served as the program’s director of basketball operations the previous year. Estarfaa brings over half a decade of coaching experience at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels with him to Syracuse.

“Growing up in New York, Syracuse was always THE school,” said Estarfaa. “I am eager to work for and with such an elite group of people to build on the Orange tradition. Go Orange!”
A four-year letterwinner on the men’s basketball team at SUNY Cortland, Estarfaa helped guide the Red Dragons to the 2016 SUNYAC Championship and was named All-SUNYAC First Team and Second Team All-East Region. As a senior, he was part of the Cortland squad that reached the second round of the Division III NCAA Tournament.

“We are excited to have Blair [Estarfaa] rejoin our family,” Legette-Jack said. “He has been with us for three years at Buffalo and he has grown from every position he’s had with us including being our DOBO, as well as an assistant coach. Now he is going to be our video coordinator here with the same mindset that as a team we rise. I am excited about what he will bring to Syracuse, which is enthusiasm and purpose. He will bring camaraderie, and he will also be able to assist in showing us film breakdowns of how great we are going to be. Please help me welcome Blair Estarfaa to the Syracuse community.”

Estarfaa began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Alfred University after graduating from Cortland in 2016. He helped bring in a recruiting class that went on to be pivotal in Alfred’s NCAA Tournament run in 2019 that culminated in a 24-win season. Estarfaa planned the day-to-day operations of the men’s basketball program at Alfred, planned team travel, organized practices and was responsible for film breakdown and exchange.

From 2017-19 Estarfaa was an assistant coach and JV head coach at Daemen College where he helped guide the Wildcats to a 46-14 record in his two seasons on the sidelines. The team won the 2019 ECC Regular Season Championship and ranked as high as No. 10 in the nation. He mentored multiple all-conference players while at Daemen and the East Region Player of the Year and Top-20 Player of the Year Finalist, Andrew Sischo.

He made the move to women’s basketball in July 2019 as the director of operations at Buffalo where he managed the team’s budget, coordinated the program’s daily schedule, organized team travel and meals, and supervised the video coordinator. Additionally, as the team’s director of operations he oversaw Coach Jack’s schedule and helped coordinate appearances, was the team’s compliance liaison and helped organize community outreach and fundraising opportunities.

In 2020, Estarfaa made the move to assistant coach within the Bulls’ program. Buffalo posted a 40-18 record over the two seasons he served as an assistant coach which included the 2022 Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship and a trip to the 2022 NCAA Tournament. Estarfaa worked primarily with the guards including Associated Press (AP) Honorable Mention All-American Dyaisha Fair, 2022 MAC Freshman of the Year Georgia Woolley, and 2021 All-MAC Freshman and Defensive Team selection Cheyenne McEvans, all of whom transferred to Syracuse this offseason to join Legette-Jack and her staff in the Salt City.

Estarfaa earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and sport studies from SUNY Cortland in 2016 and is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
