Seven Earn All-ACC Honors


GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seven members of the Orange have been voted to the All-ACC Women’s Lacrosse Team announced on Tuesday, April 26.
Graduate student Emily Hawryschuk, senior Meaghan Tyrrell and junior Emma Tyrrell were voted to the All-ACC First Team by the league’s head coaches. Graduate student Sam Swart and seniors Megan Carney and Sarah Cooper were selected to the second team, while Olivia Adamson earned a spot on the conference’s All-Freshman Team.
Emily Hawryschuk, Attack
Hawryschuk become the program’s all-time leading goal scorer when she notched her 261st career goal on April 19 against UAlbany. Her 57 goals on the season rank 12th nationally, and she has been especially effective of late with 20 scores in the last four games.
Emma Tyrrell, Midfield
Tyrrell recorded 50 points on 30 goals and 20 assists in the first 12 games of the season before suffering a season-ending injury. Her 20 assists are a career high and led the team at the time of her injury. Tyrrell recorded seven or more points in a game three times.
Meaghan Tyrrell, Attack
Tyrrell is once again one of the leading scorers in the nation. She ranks fourth nationally in points (93), fifth in goals (63), and 21st in assists (30). Tyrrell has tallied at least four points in 13 of Syracuse’s 17 games, including the last six contests. She needs seven more points to become just the third player in program history to record 100 points in a season twice during her career.
Megan Carney, Attack
Carney has recorded four or more points in a game six times in 2022. She has 42 points on 27 goals and 15 assists in 12 contests. She ranks fourth on the team in all three categories. Carney enters the ACC Tournament with 199 career points.
Sarah Cooper, Defense
Cooper has anchored the Orange defense that has held its opponents to less than 10 goals in six contests in 2022. She has recorded 21 ground balls, 17 caused turnovers, and 36 draw controls. Cooper has also joined in the action offensively as she has a goal and two assists this season.
Sam Swart, Midfield
Swart has started all 17 games in the midfield for the Orange. She has recorded 35 points on 23 goals and a career-high 12 assists. In addition, Swart has picked up 18 ground balls and caused six turnovers. She has recorded at least one point in 16-of-17 games this season, including four against Duke.
Olivia Adamson, Attack
Adamson has been a contributor all season with 20 goals. Her role has increased due to injuries and Adamson has responded with 10 goals in her last five games, including back-to-back hat tricks against Louisville and UAlbany.
ACC Tournament
No. 3 seed Syracuse will face No. 6 seed Virginia on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in South Bend, Ind. in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. With a win, the Orange would compete in the semifinals on Sunday, May 1.
