NOTRE DAME, Ind. – No. 3 Syracuse will face No. 16 Virginia in the quarterfinals of the 2022 ACC Tournament. Opening draw is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29 at Arlotta Stadium in Notre Dame, Indiana.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse is the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament after posting a 6-2 league record. The Orange enter Friday’s game with a 13-4 overall record.
Senior Meaghan Tyrrell is the nation’s fifth-leading scorer with 93 points, and the program’s all-time leading goal-scorer graduate student Emily Hawryschuk has found the back of the net 20 times in the last four games. Hawryschuk finished the regular season 12th in the country with 57 goals.
Junior specialist Kate Mashewske has been dominant in the draw circle in the past four contests as well, racking up 56 draw controls in that span.
SCOUTING THE CAVALIERS
Virginia, which finished the regular season with an 8-8 record, is the No. 6 seed in the ACC Tournament. The Cavaliers defeated Virginia Tech in their regular-season finale for a 3-5 conference record.
Senior Ashlyn McGovern and freshman Rachel Clark lead the Virginia offense with 52 goals each, while Morgan Schwab has dished out 25 assists. The Cavaliers ranks second in the ACC in draw controls per game (17.76). Aubrey Williams leads the way 128 draw controls.
Ashley Vernon has played the majority of minutes in goal for Virginia. She has a 13.09 goals-against average and a .384 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY
Syracuse and Virginia will meet for the 27th time overall and second time this season. The Orange lead the series with the Cavaliers, 15-12. The teams met in Charlottesville on March 12. Meaghan Tyrrell recorded six points (5g, 1a) to lead the Orange to a 17-11 victory.
UP NEXT
With a victory, Syracuse will advance to the ACC Tournament semifinals on Sunday, May 1 where it would face the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between Boston College and Virginia Tech.
