Women's Basketball Season Ends in ACC Tournament


Teisha Hyman led the Orange in points with 25 in the 88-69 loss to Clemson Wednesday afternoon. The 25 points marks her third straight game with 20+ points. Hyman also notched seven rebounds, eight assists, and three steals. Syracuse concludes it season 11-18 overall, and 4-15 in conference.
Chrislyn Carr recorded her second straight 20-point game. She notched two rebounds, two assists, and a steal in the season-ending loss.
Clemson was the first on the scoreboard with a Daisha Bradford jumper, but ‘Cuse had a quick answer with an Alaysia Styles layup. Back-and-forth baskets brought the score to 13-12 at the media timeout, with Clemson in the lead. After a scoring drought of 2:54, Hyman hit a layup off a pass from Chrislyn Carr to get the Orange back within three, 17-14. Clemson lead at the end of the first 21-16.
The Tigers opened the second on an 8-0 run before Hyman hit a jumper. Styles followed it up with a layup at 6:26, drawing Clemson to call timeout at 5:45. Styles brought the deficit back to single-digits with an and-one layup late in the half. Teisha Hyman hit a buzzer-beater layup at the half, but the Orange still trailed 38-32.
The Orange battled back late in the fourth, cutting the Clemson lead to four, but it was not enough to close the gap. The Tigers held off the late game surge
Five Orange scored, and three of the five recorded double-digits. Alaysia Styles rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11. This marks her third consecutive game in double-figures. Styles added a team-high eight rebounds, a block, and three steals.
Naje Murray had seven points, two rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Christianna Carr rounded out the Orange scorers with six points, five rebounds, and two steals.
Clemson’s Delicia Washingtotn recorded a team-high 33 points. The Tigers shot lights-out from the field, going 34-61, good for 55.7 percent. Syacuse forced 23 turnovers on the Tigers, including 11 steals.
