Swart Added to Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Syracuse graduate student Sam Swart is one of 13 players that have been added to the women’s Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The first-round additions were announced by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation on Thursday, March 10.
Swart has started all six games this season in the midfield for the Orange. She has 13 points on seven goals and six assists. Swart also has eight ground balls, two caused turnovers and a draw control.
The Coopersburg, Pa. native recorded a season-high four points in the Orange’s come-from-behind victory against Duke last Sunday. The second of her two goals came with 22 seconds remaining and secured Syracuse’s 18-16 victory.
Swart joins teammates Emily Hawryschuk, Megan Carney, Sarah Cooper, Meaghan Tyrrell and Emma Tyrrell on the Watch List.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the country. The next round of additions to the Watch Lists will be announced on April 1. The field will be narrowed to 25 nominees and five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in early May. The 2022 Tewaaraton Award recipients will be chosen at the conclusion of the season.
Swart and the Orange begin a three-game road trip on Saturday, March 12 at No. 14 Virginia at Noon.
