Six Named To Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America Teams

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Meaghan Tyrrell leads a group of six members of the Orange named to Inside Lacrosse’s Midseason All-America Teams announced on Thursday, March 31.
 
Tyrrell was a first-team All-America selection, while senior Sarah Cooper and junior Emma Tyrrell were named to the second team. In addition, graduate student Emily Hawryschuk, senior Megan Carney and junior Kate Mashewske earned honorable mention accolades.
 
Meaghan Tyrrell leads the Orange and ranks 10th in the nation in points (57) and goals (40). She has scored five or more goals five times this season. Tyrrell ranks seventh on Syracuse’s career points list (254) and eighth in career goals (164).
 
Cooper has anchored the ‘Cuse defense this season that has held its opponents to less than 10 goals four times. She has 13 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers to go along with one assist.
 
Emma Tyrrell has 47 points on 28 goals and a team-high 19 assists this season. She has recorded four or more points in six games, including a career-high eight in the Orange’s victory against Temple. Tyrrell also ranks second on the squad in draw controls (61).
 
Hawryschuk ranks second on the team in goals (32) and is third in points (45). She has recorded four or more points in her last eight games. Hawryschuk ranks third on Syracuse’s career goals list (241) and is one point away from becoming the fifth player in program history to record 300 points in her career.
 
Carney has 39 points on 25 goals and 14 assists this season. She has scored three or more goals in six contests. Carney needs four points to reach 200 in her career.
 
Mashewske ranks 15th in the nation in draw controls per game, averaging 6.55 per contest. She set a career high with 11 draw controls in Syracuse’s win at Virginia Tech and then surpassed that total with 14 against Temple. The 14 draw controls against the Owls tie for third on Syracuse’s single-game record list.
 
The No. 4 Orange are back in action on Saturday, April 2 when they host Pittsburgh at 12 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. Tickets can be purchased at Cuse.com/tickets. The game will be televised on ACC Network.
