San Francisco’s Chase Center Launches Suite Resale Marketplace SuiteXchange

Chase Center in San Francisco is changing the way leaseholders utilize their suites. In partnership with Arc XP, the home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors have launched SuiteXchange, a platform designed to give leaseholders the ability to rent out their suites on any given event night.

SuiteXchange is the first suite resale platform of its kind and provides added revenue for leaseholders and the venue, while allowing buyers the opportunity to experience exclusive suites for a night.

According to Warriors evp of ticket sales and service John Beaven, the idea for the marketplace was created when the team was in talks with potential leaseholders prior to the arena’s opening in 2019. The new Bay Area arena intended to have a calendar so full of games, concerts and other live events that potential leaseholders wouldn’t be able to fill their suites for every occasion.

“It is really difficult to utilize every single event that comes through,” says Beaven. “Having this optionality and doing it in a way that was supported by the team became a must have for us.”

SuiteXchange allows leaseholders to list their courtside lounges on the event level, 16-person club suites, and four-person theater boxes on nights they won’t be utilized and buyers can accept the price or anonymously “make an offer.” Leaseholders are able to create a “floor price” (a price they aren’t willing to go below) and also have the ability to counter those offers. The platform allows buyers to see inside the suite, what amenities will be available to them and what their view of the event will be.

Tha majority of the revenue from the resale will go to the leaseholder, while the venue will take a 5% buyers fee per transaction. In addition to that added revenue, venues will see increased attendance at their events at a time when no-show rates are financially hurting venues across the country.

“Not only is it good for the building from a no-show rate standpoint, but it’s good for the leaserholder,” Beaven tells Billboard, “the higher their utility over the life of their lease, the more likely they are to renew.”

Beaven says the initial run at Chase Center has been well-received and the Warriors are already in talks to expand the use of SuiteXchange to other venues. The platform was designed to be scalable for a venue with just a handful of suites to other arenas and stadiums. Venues will be able to customize their offerings, upload 360-degree views of their suites and itemize what amenities will be available for buyers.

“We wanted to make sure we built it in a scalable way that could not only be a single destination for Chase Center suites, but could truly be a marketplace,” says Beaven. “If you’re going to Boston or New York and we’ve partnered with those teams, you could just go to SuiteXchange and find suite options for events in that market.”

SuiteXchange is live now for events at Chase Center. Head here to learn more.
