Saban Music Group Expands, Names Alejandro Reglero Head of New Latin Division

Saban Music Group, which launched in 2019 as a music company with a “global” outlook and roster, is now launching Saban Music Latin.

The new division, which will expand Saban’s current focus on Latin music, will be headed by Alejandro Reglero in the role of executive vp and general manager. Reglero will oversee A&R, marketing and operations for the division, reporting to Saban Music Group CEO Gustavo López.

Reglero comes from more than 10 years at Sony Music US Latin, where he was most recently vp of A&R, working closely with artists like Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Prince Royce, Becky G and Natti Natasha, among many others, both established and up and coming.

“At Saban Music Group, we are driven by artist development, first and foremost. It is important for us to strengthen our team with the industry’s best, and Alejandro is exactly that,” said López in a statement.

“I have the same spirit and enthusiasm for discovering and cultivating new artists that Haim Saban, Gus, and the entire SMG team do,” said Reglero in a statement. “I understand the vision Saban Music Group has for the future, and it aligns with my own. We’re focused on A&R and willing to help artists accomplish their goals by providing as many tools as possible to ensure success worldwide.”

Aside from his job as a record executive, Reglero has a well-known music pedigree as the son of pop icon Ricardo Montaner, with whom he’s worked closely through the years, as well as with his siblings Mau, Ricky and Evaluna Montaner.

Reglero, who will continue to be based in Miami, is planning on building his executive team and expanding SMG’s Latin roster.

Founded by billionaire Haim Saban, who has long had close ties with Latin entertainment, SMG’s current roster includes reggaetón star Don Omar, Puerto Rican singer Chesca and Israeli duo Static and Ben El.
