Orange Battle Against FSU

Teisha Hyman earned her first double-double of the season in Tuesday night’s loss to Florida State, 73-67. She had 10 points and a career-high 13 rebounds in the ACC loss. Hyman also added five assists, two steals, and a block.
Syracuse (11-13 overall, 4-10 ACC) returns to the court for its third game in six days when the Orange face Virginia Tech on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The game will be streamed on ACCNX through the ESPN app.
The Seminoles scored the first points of the game off an O’Mariah Gordon jumper. Florida State stretched its lead to 12-5 before Syracuse Acting Head Coach Vonn Read called timeout. The Orange scored the first basket out of the timeout with an Alaysia Styles layup. Syracuse closed the gap to two at the end of the first quarter, trailing 20-18.
Syracuse took its first lead of the game at 8:45 in the second frame, when Christianna Carr hit a three-pointer to make the score 21-20. FSU called a timeout and both. teams traded the lead nine more times before the end of the quarter, where the Noles held a 32-28 lead. Syracuse shot 36.4 percent from the field and from behind the arc in the first half.
The Orange would not take the lead again for the remainder of the game. A late-game technical to FSU allowed Syracuse to close the deficit to single digits when Chrislyn Carr made all four shots at the charity stripe.
Four of the six Orange that saw action scored in double figures. Chrislyn Carr led Syracuse in scoring with 20 points, her fifth 20-point game of the season. She also added an assist, a rebound, and two steals.
Naje Murray had 14 points, five assists, four rebounds, and a steal. Styles tallied her second straight game in double-digits with 10 points. She added seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Christianna Carr added nine points, five rebounds, and a steal. Alaina Rice rounded out the Orange scoring with four points. She had three rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
