Lin-Manuel Miranda & Mike Elizondo Rule Hot 100 Producers Chart Thanks to ‘Encanto’ Hits
The musical forces behind Disney’s Encanto, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Mike Elizondo, tie at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 Producers chart (dated Feb. 5), each leading as the top producers in the U.S. for the first time, thanks to their work on seven songs from the Encanto soundtrack on the latest Billboard Hot 100.
Leading the way, Encanto ensemble anthem “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” crowns the Hot 100, becoming just the second song from a Disney animated film ever to lead the chart, following Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s “A Whole New World” from Aladdin in 1993.
“Bruno” earns Miranda his first Hot 100 No. 1 as a producer or songwriter, and Elizondo his second as a producer, after 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” in 2003 (co-produced with Dr. Dre).
Here’s a look at all seven of Miranda and Elizondo’s production credits on the latest Hot 100, all of which the pair co-produced and all of which reach new best ranks:
Rank, Artist Billing, Title
- No. 1, Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Diane Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz & Encanto Cast, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”?
- No. 9, Jessica Darrow, “Surface Pressure”
- No. 20, Stephanie Beatriz, Olga Merediz & Encanto Cast, “The Family Madrigal”
- No. 27, Diane Guerrero & Stephanie Beatriz, “What Else Can I Do?”

- No. 48, Stephanie Beatriz, “Waiting On a Miracle”
- No. 82, Stephanie Beatriz, Olga Merediz, John Leguizamo, Adassa, Maluama & Encanto Cast, “All of You”
Miranda and Elizondo each have storied production histories on Billboard‘s charts. Before Encanto, Miranda earned three production credits on the chart, all from Disney’s Moana in 2016-17: Auli’i Cravalho’s “How Far I’ll Go,” Opetaia Foa’i and Miranda’s “We Know the Way” and Dwayne Johnson’s “You’re Welcome.”
Elizondo has produced 28 Hot 100-charting songs in his career, dating to Snoop Dogg’s “Lay Low,” featuring Master P, Nate Dogg, Butch Cassidy and Tha Eastsidaz, in 2001. Eight have reached the top 10 and two have hit No. 1.
Here’s a rundown of all eight of his Hot 100 top 10s as a producer:

Miranda concurrently paces the Hot 100 Songwriters chart for a fourth week, as he is the sole credited writer on all seven of the Hot 100 hits from Encanto. He is the first talent to top Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers simultaneously since Taylor Swift in November and could join six artists have so far achieved such a double-up for multiple weeks since Billboard‘s songwriter and producer charts began in June 2019: Dan Nigro (six weeks); Finneas (five); David Stewart (four); Louis Bell (three); Greg Kurstin and Swift (two each).
The weekly Hot 100 Songwriters and Hot 100 Producers charts are based on total points accrued by a songwriter and producer, respectively, for each attributed song that appears on the Hot 100; plus, genre-based songwriter and producer charts follow the same methodology based on corresponding “Hot”-named genre charts. As with Billboard‘s yearly recaps, multiple writers or producers split points for each song equally (and the dividing of points will lead to occasional ties on rankings).
