EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 3 Syracuse looks to remain unbeaten when it takes on No. 6 Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois on Tuesday, March 1. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m. Eastern time for the rematch of last year’s national semifinal.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse started ACC play off on the right foot with a 17-16 overtime victory at Notre Dame last Saturday. Senior Meaghan Tyrrell scored the game winner in the extra session to improve the Orange’s record to 4-0.
 
Junior Emma Tyrrell led the Orange offense against the Fighting Irish. She tied her career high with seven points on four goals and three assists. Tyrrell also established a new career high with nine draw controls.
 
TAKING ON THE BEST OF THE BEST
Tuesday’s game marks Syracuse’s fourth against a ranked opponent and second against a top-10 team in the first three-plus weeks of the season. The Orange already have wins against then No. 13 Stanford, No. 4 Stony Brook and No. 17 Notre Dame.
 
Syracuse’s schedule doesn’t get any easier. Following Tuesday’s game, the Orange will face No. 7 Duke, No. 13 Virginia and No. 11 Florida in their next three contests.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
Northwestern enters Tuesday’s game with a 3-1 record. Since opening the season with a loss at No. 1 Boston College, the Wildcats have won three in a row.
 
Lauren Gilbert leads the Northwestern offense with 19 points and 15 goals. Brennan Dwyer also has reached double figures in goals with 10, while Erin Coykendall has dished out a team-high six assists.
 
Madison Doucette has started all four games in goal for the Wildcats. She has a 13.96 goals-against average and a .375 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Tuesday’s game marks the 22nd all-time meeting between Syracuse and Northwestern. The Wildcats own a 14-7 lead in the series, however, the Orange have won six of the last nine contests between the two squads.
 
The teams met in last year’s NCAA Tournament semifinals at Towson. Northwestern entered the game as the No. 2 seed, while Syracuse was the No. 3 seed. Meaghan Tyrrell led the Orange with eight points (5g, 3a), helping ‘Cuse to a 21-13 victory and its third national championship game appearance.
