#3 Orange, #13 Cardinal Meet in Season Opener

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 3 Syracuse hosts No. 13 Stanford on Friday, February 11. The match-up is the season opener for both teams.
 
Opening draw is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Carrier Dome. The game will be broadcast ACCNX and WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area. Live updates will also be available on Twitter (@CuseWLAX).
 
Tickets for Friday’s game are $5 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets are available at Cuse.com/tickets.
 
ORANGE UPDATE
Kayla Treanor will make her debut as head coach for the Orange. Treanor returns to Syracuse where she starred from 2013-2016 after serving as an assistant coach at Boston College for the past five seasons. Treanor ranks second on the Orange’s all-time scoring list with 393 points.
 
The Orange posted a 17-4 record in 2021 and finished as the NCAA runner-up for the third time in program history. The team returns its top six scorers led by Meaghan Tyrrell (112 points).
 
SCOUTING THE CARDINAL

Stanford posted an 11-1 record in 2021. The Cardinal defeated Colorado for the Pac-12 Championship before falling to Denver in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Ali Baiocco (75 points) and Galen Lew (46 points) return as the team’s top scorers from last season.
 
Danielle Spencer enters her sixth season as Stanford’s head coach. Spencer owns a 43-24 career record and has led the program to two NCAA Tournament appearances. 
 
SERIES HISTORY

Syracuse and Stanford meet for the fifth time, with the Orange holding a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series. The programs last clashed in 2011 when the Cardinal posted an 11-10 victory.
