Orange Announce 2022 Football Schedule

Seven home dates filled with exciting and challenging matchups headline the 2022 Syracuse football schedule, which was announced on Monday by the ACC.
Orange fans will see Notre Dame, Purdue, Wagner and conference foes Louisville, NC State, Florida State and Virginia in the Loud House this season.
Six of Syracuse’s 11 FBS opponents this season earned votes in the final AP Poll, including five of the nation’s top-20 teams and four top-15 opponents at the end of the year. Nine of the 11 were bowl eligible last season.
With 17-of-22 starters off last year’s team returning, headlined by record-breaking back Sean Tucker and fellow First Team All-ACC selection Mikel Jones, the challenging slate should provide for thrilling competition in the Loud House this season.
Season tickets for the 2022 season will go on sale Tuesday, with current season ticket holders receiving information via email in the morning. Fans interested in purchasing new season tickets should visit Cuse.com/Tickets or call 888-DOME-TIX for more information.
The 2022 slate is front-loaded with home games, with five of the team’s first-six games taking place in Syracuse.
Sept. 3 – Louisville – Home
It’ll all get started with Louisville at home on Sept. 3. It will be the Cardinals’ first trip to ‘Cuse since 2018 following the team playing at Louisville in the redone 2020 schedule, sandwiched between previously scheduled road games in 2019 and 2021.
Sept. 10 – UConn – Away
The Orange will then hit the road for the only time in the first half of the season, traveling to UConn on Sept. 10 to break up a string of five home games in the first six games of the year.
Sept. 17 – Purdue – Home
Purdue visits Syracuse for the first time ever on Sept. 17, bringing another Big Ten foe to Syracuse’s schedule, a trend likely to continue with the introduction of The Alliance. In August, the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 announced an alliance to bring their 41 world-class institutions together on a collaborative approach surrounding the future evolution of college athletics and scheduling.
Sept. 23 – Virginia – Home
A typical highlight on the schedule, the Orange will once again host a Friday night game. Virginia comes to town for the first time as a conference opponent on Friday, Sept. 23. The Cavaliers – a member of the ACC Coastal Division – have met once since SU joined the league, in a triple-overtime game played in Charlottesville in 2014.
Oct. 1 – Wagner – Home
As the calendar turns to October, Syracuse’s three-straight weeks of home games ends with Wagner on Oct. 1. Syracuse also hosted the Seahawks in 2018, in an offensive explosion that saw Syracuse score on seven of their first 10 drives of the game.
Oct. 8 – OPEN
The bye week ties 2019 for the earliest ‘Cuse bye in the last seven years, excluding the 2020 season where there were multiple open weeks.
Syracuse’s bye in 2021 came 10 weeks into the season.
Oct. 15 – NC State – Home
Following a bye week, the Orange will host NC State. The Wolfpack finished the 2021 campaign at 9-3, before having their bowl game canceled, and ranked No. 20 in the final AP Poll.
The game starts a grueling stretch of four-straight games against teams that won nine-or-more games last season and finished in the top-20.
Oct. 22 – Clemson – Away
Syracuse returns to Death Valley on Oct. 22. This will be the latest Syracuse has played its first conference road game since 2014, when the team also did so for its seventh contest (a 30-7 win over Wake Forest).
The Tigers have the nation’s longest active home winning streak (34), and have finished with 10+ wins in 11-straight seasons, including this past year, where they ended the season No. 15 in the rankings.
Oct. 29 – Notre Dame – Home
For the first time since 2003, Syracuse will welcome Notre Dame to town. The Orange were victorious in that last meeting – what was the ’03 season finale, as the great Walter Reyes scored five touchdowns on the day.
Syracuse will have their hands full with the highest-ranked opponent coming out of the 2021 season, as Notre Dame concluded the year No. 8 in the AP Poll.
Nov. 5 – Pittsburgh – Away
The Orange will kickoff November on the road at the defending ACC Champions. Pitt, which is Syracuse’s most frequent opponent, will square off with the Orange for the 78th time in program history.
The Panthers earned a trip to the Orange Bowl this past season.
Nov. 12 – Florida State – Home
The home slate wraps up with another Atlantic Division foe making their first trip to the Dome since 2018. Syracuse made trips to Tallahassee in 2019 and 2021, and the teams didn’t play in 2020. ‘Cuse lost to the Noles on a last-second field goal this past season and will look to rekindle some of the success they experienced in FSU’s last trip up to ‘Cuse – a 30-7 win in 2018.
Nov. 19 – Wake Forest – Away
The defending ACC Atlantic Division Champs are coming off one of their best seasons in program history. With two of the last three games having gone to OT against the Demon Deacons, Syracuse makes its first trip to Winston-Salem since the 2018 season.
Nov. 26 – Boston College – Away
Another longtime rival caps off the 2022 slate. Boston College moves back to the last game of the year – for now the sixth time in Syracuse’s seven seasons in the ACC – when the Orange travel to Chestnut Hill on the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Syracuse and BC have split the last four meetings, with ‘Cuse winning this past year’s matchup 21-6.
