Syracuse, Yale Face Off at 12PM Sunday

Syracuse (5-2) travels to Yale (4-4) for its final non-conference road game Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 12 p.m. on ESPN+ with Cooper Boardman ’21 and Austin Rooney on the call. 

The Orange look to bounce back from Wednesday night’s 87-78 road loss at Purdue (7-1) in the ACC/B1G Challenge. Syracuse is led by its backcourt tandem of Dyaisha Fair (18.6 ppg) and Teisha Hyman (15.6 ppg). Fair also leads the team in assists per game averaging 4.6 while Hyman adds 4.0 assists and is coming off a season-high 25 point performance. Asia Strong put on a show in the Orange’s last time out with 18 points and 10 rebounds going a season-best 4-for-6 from behind the arc. 

As a unit, ‘Cuse averages 77.1 points per game and is outscoring its opponents by 13.8 ppg. The Orange are top three in the ACC in blocks per game (5.4), defensive rebounds per game (31.0), rebounds per game (45.7), steals per game (10.4), and three-point field goal defense (.252). 

Yale is coming off a 72-57 loss to UMass on Wednesday night. Sophomore forward Grace Thybulle led the Bulldogs with 16 points in the loss. Jenna Clark leads the team with 11.8 ppg while Kiley Capstraw adds 11.0 ppg as the Bulldogs’ second leading scorer. Yale averages 63.3 points per game and is shooting 37.4 percent from the field through eight games this season. 

Both squad’s head coaches are in their first season at the helm. Sunday marks the first time the two have met since Yale earned a 70-54 win at Manley Fieldhouse on Jan. 5, 2004.
