Meet the Orange: #21 Saniaa Wilson

Rochester native Saniaa Wilson discusses why she chose to transfer to Syracuse this summer and join Felisha Legette-Jack on The Hill, her basketball journey and where he love for cooking began in the latest episode of Meet the Orange. 

Wilson was one of the first players Legette-Jack recruited to Syracuse after being announce as the seventh head coach in Syracuse history on March 26, 2021. The six-foot forward was a three-star recruit by ESPN HoopGurlz and was ranked the No. 18 forward in her graduating class out of Bishop Kearney High School.

In a shortened freshman season at Buffalo due to injury, she appeared in 14 games for the Bulls and scored a season-high 12 points in her collegiate debut against Northern Illinois. At the time of Wilson’s decision to transfer to Syracuse and follow her head coach, Legette-Jack said, “The world has not yet seen how good Saniaa will be.” 

Wilson’s know by her teammates as the level-headed one who never gets to high or low in her emotions. She enjoys cooking, which has been passed down from generation-to-generation in her family, and looks forward to the exciting season ahead. 

The Meet the Orange miniseries is aimed to introduce fans to the new faces of @CuseWBB and build excitement for Coach Jack’s first season leading her alma mater.
