Meet the Orange: #25 Alaina Rice

In the latest episode of Meet the Orange, senior Alaina Rice discusses her journey to Syracuse, her friendly competition on Fortnite with teammate Teisha Hyman and the exciting future of Syracuse women’s basketball with head coach Felisha Legette-Jack at the helm. 

Rice, a graduate of IMG Academy, began her college journey at Florida A&M where she was the MEAC Freshman of the Year in 2020. She transferred to Auburn for the 2020-21 season where she started in 12 of her 22 appearances for the Tigers and averaged 5.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 0.8 steals per game. 

In August 2021 Rice made the move to the Salt City and appeared in all 29 games for the Orange. She averaged 4.1 points and 3.9 rebounds as Syracuse’s first player off the bench. Rice had a season-high 17 points against Boston College on Jan. 6th and tallied 10 points in a season-high 37 minutes against North Carolina on Dec. 30, 2021. 

Off the court, Rice has an affinity for Crocs and collects multiple pairs. She enjoys playing video games with friends and streaming on Twitch as well as growing her social media following on TikTok (@AMoney2525). 

The Meet the Orange miniseries is aimed to introduce fans to the new faces of @CuseWBB and build excitement for Coach Jack’s first season leading her alma mater.
