BoyWithUke Notches First No. 1 on a Billboard Songs Chart With ‘Toxic’

BoyWithUke hits No. 1 on a Billboard songs chart for the first time with “Toxic,” which rises to the top of the Alternative Airplay chart dated July 2.

It’s the anonymous Massachusetts artist’s second Billboard ruler, following the one-week reign of his album Serotonin Dreams on the World Albums chart in May.

BoyWithUke reigns in his first appearance on Alternative Airplay. He’s the third act to land a first No. 1 in 2022, following Bob Moses (“Love Brand New”) and JID (as a co-lead on Imagine Dragons’ “Enemy”).

The 31-week rise to No. 1 for “Toxic” is tied for the sixth-longest in the 33-year history of Alternative Airplay. It’s the lengthiest since The Unlikely Candidates’ “Novocaine” took 33 frames to lead in March 2020.

Concurrently, “Toxic” ranks at No. 11, after reaching No. 10 in May, on the all-rock-format, audience-based Rock & Alternative Airplay chart with 2.7 million audience impressions, according to Luminate.

“Toxic” has also reached Nos. 9 and 11 on the multi-metric Hot Alternative Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tallies, respectively. In the June 17-23 tracking week, the song earned 2.4 million official U.S. streams, enough combined with its radio airplay and sales to land it at Nos. 12 and 15, respectively, on Hot Alternative Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs.

Serotonin Dreams, from which “Toxic” is the lead single, debuted at No. 7 on the Top Alternative Albums chart dated May 21 and has earned 133,000 equivalent album units to date.
