Teaching assistant arrested in Madison County

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) –A 44-year-old teacher’s assistant in Madison County is facing rape charges.

Wendy Looman is accused of sexual misconduct with at least one student.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested Looman Friday, February 23, 2024.]

She’s accused of sending inappropriate pictures to several teen boys in the Madison Central School District through Snapchat.

Deputies say an investigation later revealed sexual activity between Looman and at least one student younger than 17.

According to Madison Central School Superintendent Jason Mitchell:”The Madison Central School District is aware of the allegations against, and the arrest of, Mrs. Looman. We take this matter seriously and continue to work with law enforcement. As this is both a student and personnel matter, we have no further comment at this time.

Looman was charged with:

  • Rape in the 3rd degree
  • Sexual misconduct

Looman was booked at the Madison County Jail and released.
