SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) — Syracuse University is asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for two swatting incidents.
Syracuse University’s Department of Public Safety says it received a false 911 report of an active shooter at Maxwell Hall and Eggers Hall on Sunday evening, Feb. 11.
Less than 24 hours later, on Monday, Feb. 12, just before noon, the university received a second false report of an active shooter in the same location. The university says DPS and Syracuse Police responded to both incidents and determined both were fake.
Syracuse University says it’s currently working with its law enforcement agencies as they continue to investigate the person or persons responsible for making the false reports.
Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Syracuse University Department of Public Safety or local police.
The investigation is ongoing.
