New York Pops Clive Davis Tribute to Feature Babyface, Busta Rhymes, Fantasia, Kenny G & More

The New York Pops has announced the lineup for its 41st birthday gala honoring music industry icon Clive Davis. The Soundtrack of Our Lives: A Tribute to the Legendary Clive Davis will take place on April 29 in Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall and feature guests Babyface, Toni Braxton, Busta Rhymes, Deborah Cox, Fantasia Barrino Taylor, Kenny G, Melissa Manchester, Barry Manilow, John Mellencamp, Ray Parker Jr., Carlos Santana, Rob Thomas and Dionne Warwick, as well as additional stars to be announced later.

According to a release announcing the special night of music, the lineup will “showcase Mr. Davis’ immense impact on the worlds of Pop, Rock and Roll, R&B, Country and Hip-Hop through a wide array of musical selections.” It noted that throughout his nearly six-decade career in the music industry, Davis, 91, has won four Grammys, as well as a Grammy Trustees Lifetime Achievement Award and a 2000 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; in 2010, The Recording Academy named The Grammy Museum theatre in Davis’ honor.

Davis’ storied career as a record producer, record executive and A&R man has included stints at the top of Columbia Records, RCA Music Group and BMG North America and the founding of Arista Records and J Records, as well as the landmark singings of such music legends as Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Chicago, as well as a key role in boosting Whitney Houston to global prominence.

The event’s name is an homage to the title of Davis’ 2013 autobiography and a 2017 documentary film of the same name.

The Pops’ Steven Reineke will serve as the concert’s music director/conductor, with proceeds from the event earmarked to support the orchestra and its PopsEd music education programs; a black tie-optional dinner and dance at the Mandarin Oriental New York will follow the concert.

Dinner Dance tickets can be purchased here or by calling (212) 765-7677. Tickets for the full gala evening range from $2,500 (for concert and dinner seating for one) to $100,000 (for premier concert seating and VIP seating for 16).
