Lane closures planned for I-481 northbound in DeWitt to last through June

DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Those traveling on I-481 northbound between Exit 1 (Rock Cut Road) and Exit 2 (Jamesville Road) in the Town of DeWitt should expect traffic due to lane closures starting Tuesday, Feb. 26.

The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that motorists should expect that stretch on I-481 northbound to be reduced to one lane beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday.

The closure is expected to last through Friday, June 28, and it’s necessary to facilitate the construction of a noise barrier part of the Interstate 81 Viaduct Project.

The NYSDOT construction activities are weather-dependent and are subject to change based on conditions. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

The NYSDOT also asks motorists to slow down in work zones and to drive responsibly or fines will be doubled.

“Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license,” stated the NYSDOT.
