SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – How does some more mild weather sound?! Find out how long our nice weather stretch lasts below.
Feeling like Spring!
We are in the midst of a nice, unusually long dry, February stretch of weather as high pressure continues to be the main weather player for the region. We can look forward to some more mild weather the next couple of days!
We have a break from the frosty mornings for a little while, too. Our overnight low stays above freezing Thursday night and it should be even milder Friday night.
We’re off and running to a streak of 50+ degree weather Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We could even be in record territory (56° set in 2001) Saturday! It’ll feel like April around here rather than February for the last half of the week! Definitely a little spring fever!
When does it rain or snow again?
The next chance for any precipitation is Friday and its rain… not snow. A few light showers or sprinkles are likely Friday morning, and then mainly cloudy the rest of the day.
Our chances for rain go up Saturday afternoon. Showers could be steady at times Saturday evening before tapering off late Saturday night. We cannot completely rule out isolated rain or wet snow showers on Sunday morning, especially for areas north of the Thruway.
Turning cooler, not colder, over the weekend
It slowly turns cooler later in the weekend with highs cooling out of the 50s on Saturday to around 40 Sunday, which remains well above the normal of 33° this weekend!
But where’s the snow?!
Winter enthusiasts/snow lovers, there is some hope on the horizon! We’re watching closely for a possible nor’easter across the East/Northeast Monday night through Tuesday with some snow. As of Thursday evening, it looks like a glancing blow for central New York, but we are still several days away from the system moving close to us. Stay tuned for updates.
