Your Stories Q&A: An update on the Manlius Starbucks and an old car dealership

MANLIUS N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — You ask, we answer

Viewer Question: Any future plans for the vacant building that used to be Express Sales Lincoln-Mercury?

This question was asked due to new construction right next door. Caliber Commercial Brokerage, out of Rochester, is building a Starbucks and a WellNow Urgent Care off Fayette Street near the Highbridge Road split.

The same company has plans for the former car dealership that’s been closed since 2008.

Matt Lester with Caliber Commercial Brokerage, told the Your Stories Team the old building is slated to be demolished in the spring and site work will begin on a two or three story craftsman style building.

Lester said the first floor will be 14,000 square feet of commercial space. He said his company is still working on finding tenants.

Adding that the above floors will be approximately 20 apartments.

He cautioned the design and scale of the building could change as they get closer to construction.

When will the Starbucks open?

Last fall, work on the Starbucks was halted. The Village of Manlius said the developers were working with the Central New York’s Water Authority (OCWA), The New York State DOT, and the State’s DEC to finalize water connections to the project.

Lester said those issues have been resolved and they’re hopeful construction can be completed by the spring.

As for WellNow, he said the goal is to have the urgent care completed by late spring or early summer.
