Syracuse teen arrested, found with 556 individual doses of fentanyl

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Just after noon on Saturday, Jan. 27, two Syracuse Police officers responded to a suspicious person report at the 200 block of Sabine Street, in Syracuse.

At the scene, Officers Silvaggio and Mulroy found a 15-year-old who matched the description of the person they were looking for.

The officers watched the teen and another man walk down the street. Syracuse Police say the pair then stopped and conducted what appeared to be a drug deal.

The pair of officers tried to stop the teen with their patrol car, but the 15-year-old took off. After a short pursuit, the officers were able to arrest the teen near the intersection of Sabine and Delaware Streets.

There was a struggle between Officers Silvaggio and Mulroy and the teen as they arrested him, which is when a firearm had fallen from the teen’s coat pocket.

“This firearm was identified as a  .45 caliber Glock 21 Gen4 Handgun. The handgun had a 24-round extended magazine, with 22 rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber. The firearm was also equipped with a laser sight underneath the barrel of the handgun,” said Syracuse Police.

There was no serial number on the gun, making it a “ghost gun.”

Police also found the suspect in possession of over 21 grams of fentanyl, which Syracuse Police say is equivalent to 556 individual doses, which was packaged for sale, as well as over 12 grams of cocaine, also packaged for sale.

The 15-year-old was charged with:

  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Firearm
  • Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree
  • Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree
  • Resisting Arrest

According to Syracuse Police, this teen has previously been arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon.
