NYSP accuse Jefferson County man of sex crimes

CARTHAGE, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 28-year-old Carthage man is facing multiple charges that include “possession and promoting images depicting children performing sexual acts.”

On Monday, January 16, NY State Troopers arrested Cody Schirmer for three counts of Promoting a Sexual Performance of a Child, which is a D-felony. He was also charged with two counts of Possession of a Sexual Performance by a Child, which is an E-felony.

Schirmer is charged with possession and promoting images depicting children performing sexual acts. This arrest was a result of an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Investigation. The State Police were assisted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations. 

He was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court by Honorable Judge Neddo and was remanded to the Jefferson County Public Safety building in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
