Could Central New York see some sun Tuesday??

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The weekend’s sloppy weather has moved out so we are drying out, but can we get some sun? Details are below…

Pretty quiet this week…

The weather pattern looks to give central New York and the Northeast a break as we end January and head into February.

The jet stream winds look to keep any major storms systems away from us.

Starting tonight it is quiet under a mostly cloudy sky with lows in the 20s.

Can we get any sun?!

We’re sure going to try!

An area of high pressure builds in Tuesday into Wednesday, and should provide CNY with a drier and somewhat brighter midweek. We think Tuesday is our best shot of getting at least some breaks of sun out. Fingers and toes crossed!! Last Monday morning, January 22 was the last time CNY saw any appreciable sunshine. We’d say we are due! With even a little sun we should manage to get into the upper 30s.

Meanwhile, a weak system passing south of the Northeast Wednesday may trigger a spotty shower, but overall, it looks mainly dry from Monday afternoon through midweek.

Next best chance of rain showers comes late Thursday afternoon and evening which change to snow showers late Thursday night into Friday.

High temperatures will inch up towards 40 again by Tuesday, and low 40s Wednesday and Thursday which is several degrees above average for the end of January and start of February.
