Bring a shelter dog to work day: CNYSPCA kicks off new program

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Ever wanted a work dog in the office? If so, the CNYSPCA is kicking off a new program that would allow you to get a work dog for the day.

CNYSPCA’s Ruff Day Out Program is a new initiative that allows offices and businesses to foster a dog for the day. This helps get the dogs out of the kennel for the day and get some socialization and enrichment experience for the day.

“This will really assist us in getting the dogs out of their kennels to get enrichment, and socialization and will provide us with a lot more information about the dog that will help in getting the dogs adopted into their new families,” said Troy Waffner, Director of CNYSPCA.

Those interested in the program can fill out an application including information about who will be the main point of contact and what they are looking for in an office dog for the day.

“We all know that dogs are therapeutic, help relieve stress, and generally make people happier,” Waffner commented. “This will work both ways with the animals getting as much out of it as their coworkers for the day. It will be like bringing your dog to work day but with the huge and positive impact of helping our shelter dogs.

Guidelines for the Ruff Day Out Program and the application can be found here.
