Blizzard of ’66 started on this date 58 years ago

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Before the “Storm of the Century,” “SnowMageddon,” and “Snowpocalypse” – there was the Blizzard of ’66.

This year marks 58 years since the infamous blizzard clobbered Central New York.

The storm raged from January 29 through February 1, 1966.

Those who lived through the blizzard say there was nothing like it before, or since.

43 inches of snow fell on Syracuse – and Cortland received 31.

But Oswego – perhaps predictably – boasted the most snowfall during the blizzard, with 102 inches falling on the Port City.
