According to a spokesperson from ESPN, after Swift’s appearance at the game, Kelce’s jersey “saw a nearly 400% spike in sales through the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com.” However, many fans are claiming that the relationship is a ‘PR stunt’ and that the rumors are a sham: gaining attention from big names such as Shark Tank’s Mark Cuban, Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and even former president Donald Trump.
In a clip shared to X, (formally Twitter), Mark Cuban encourages the singer to break up with the NFL star. He comments, “Taylor, if you’re listening, sorry Travis, break up with him, I’ve got a bunch of good-looking single guys that play for the Dallas Mavericks. I got you.” Travis Kelce had a quick comeback tweeting in reply “@mcuban Just sign me to a ten day!” Kelce jokes implying he would rather completely switch sports than ‘break up’ with the superstar.
Following the Chiefs’ win against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, the pair was seen cuddling as they celebrated at a private party at Prime Social in Kansas City, Missouri. And just yesterday (October 1st), Swift showed her support at the Chiefs-Jets game held at MetLife Stadium. The rumored relationship has already left a substantial influence on the intersection between sports and entertainment, increasing NFL television views, jersey sales, and more. One couple even dressed up as the pair for an early Halloween costume. Additionally, the condiment brand Heinz created a Taylor Swift-inspired ‘Ketchup & Seemingly Ranch’ Bottle, after she was seen eating chicken tenders and a mix of the two sauces at last week’s game. Despite these public appearances and rumors, Swift has not commented on the relationship thus far in an attempt to keep her dating life private.
