A touch of winter to begin November

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – A November chill continues as we turn the calendar and many will see some snow in the air to start the month. Find out all about that below…

Mainly dry for the trick or treaters

It’s a mainly quiet evening with light winds, a creepy chilly and just a spooky shower or two possible. This is pretty good news across CNY for the ghosts and goblins out and about this evening getting treats. So happy treating on this Halloween evening!

First snow for most?

A disturbance combined with limited lake effect should drop in late tonight into Wednesday with some snow showers possibly mixed with a little rain and graupel at times, especially come Wednesday afternoon. The steadiest snow in the Syracuse area is likely to come during the morning commute. With temperatures just above freezing roads should be wet but over higher elevations, where it is a bit cooler, watch for some slick spots.

While most see nothing more than a slushy coating to an inch on grassy surfaces, including Syracuse, Wednesday morning, in spots across the hills south of Syracuse there could up to a couple of inches. For more on the average first date of measurable snow click here.

Highs on Wednesday with a chilly breeze struggle to make the low 40s. Brrr…

Some sun returns and chill eases to end week

Thankfully, after a chilly Wednesday night, it turns milder for the last half of the week with some sunshine. By the end of the week, we should be well into the 50s, but there’s a steady, cool breeze both Thursday and Friday too.
