Orange Gain Road Win At Siena

Syracuse (1-1) scored twice during a four-minute span in the first half and added a second-half tally to secure a 3-0 triumph on Sunday in Loudonville, N.Y.

ABRAMSON OPENS THE SCORING
Sophomore Alyssa Abramson scored Syracuse’s first goal of the campaign following a scramble in front of the Siena net. Sophomore Grace Gillard headed the ball and Abramson follwed with a header that crossed the Saint goal line, 35:25 into the first half.

FLUREY CONVERTS
Redshirt sophomore Erin Flurey, the top returning scorer on this year’s club, struck quickly after Syracuse’s opening goal. Less than four minutes after Abramson scored, Flurey drove the ball into the back of Siena’s cage to give the Orange a 2-0 advantage.

PILLEY CLOSES IT OUT
Senior Hannah Pilley closed out the afternoon’s scoring with a tally at 74:21. Flurey earned the assist.

VANDERBOSCH VS VANDERBOSCH
The Syracuse vs. Siena pairing featured a matchup of twin sisters, sophomore goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch with Siena and sophomore defender Kam Vanderbosch with the Saints. The duo were standout scholastic teammates at Lancaster High School (N.Y.) but were on opposite sides today.

NOTEABLE NOTES:

  • Shea Vanderbosch earned the shutout in goal and finished with four saves.
  • The Orange outshot Siena, 17-10.
  • Syracuse improved its series advantage over SIena to 3-0.
  • The Orange have kept the Saints from scoring in the three meetings.
