SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse begins play in the 2023 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on Sunday, May 14 when it hosts Johns Hopkins at 3 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
 
Tickets for the game are $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors/youth. Fans can purchase tickets at Cuse.com/tickets.
 
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ (subscription required) and on WJPZ 89.1FM. Live updates will also be available on Twitter (@CuseWLax).
 
ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse earned the No. 2 seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament, matching its highest seed in program history. The Orange enter Sunday’s game with a 16-2 record. Syracuse earned a share of the ACC regular-season title with an 8-1 league mark.
 
Meaghan Tyrrell leads the Orange in points with 96. With four more points, Tyrrell will become the second player in program history to post 100 points in a season three times during her career. Megan Carney has scored a team-high 52 goals, which rank sixth in the ACC.
 
On the defensive end of the field, goalkeeper Delaney Sweitzer has a .509 save percentage and a 9.42 goals-against average.
 
NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The 2023 NCAA Tournament appearance is the 20th for Syracuse since the program began in 1998. The Orange have an all-time record of 23-19 in tournament play. Syracuse earned a first-round bye for the seventh time since the tournament expanded in 2013. Since that time, the Orange are 6-1 in second-round contests.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE JAYS

Johns Hopkins defeated Massachusetts, 19-8, in the first round at the SU Soccer Stadium on Friday to advance to Sunday’s second round. The win over the Minutewomen improved the Blue Jays’ record to 9-8.
 
Ava Angello leads Johns Hopkins in points (51) and goals (38). Annie Marshall has recorded a team-best 87 draw controls. She ranks 20th in the nation in draw controls per game (6.23).
 
Maggie Tydings has started all 17 games in goal for the Blue Jays. She has a .399 save percentage and an 11.18 goals-against average.
 
SERIES HISTORY

Sunday’s game will be the first meeting between Syracuse and Johns Hopkins.
