Fair Makes USA Basketball AmeriCup Trials Roster

Senior guard Dyaisha Fair has been named to the USA Women’s AmeriCup Trials roster, announced Thursday by USA Basketball. Fair, a Rochester, N.Y., native, led Syracuse with 19.9 points per game and was second in the ACC in scoring.

Fair is one of 22 athletes to participate in the 2023 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team trials from May 11-15 in Colorado Springs. Players were selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee, chaired by DePaul head coach Doug Bruno in collaboration with Jen Rizzotti, president of the Connecticut Sun and chair of the USA Basketball Women’s National Team Committee. Trials are run by AmeirCup coaches Kamie Ethridge, Katrina Merriweather and Aaron Johnston.

One of 12 players making their USA Basketball debuts, Fair is coming off one of the most impressive seasons by a Syracuse guard in program history. The 5-foot-5 point guard was a WBCA Coaches All-America Honorable Mention honoree and was named All-ACC First Team and All-Defensive Team en route to guiding SU to a 20-13 record in head coach Felisha Legette-Jack‘s first year on The Hill.

Following selection of the 2023 USA Women’s AmeriCup Team, athletes will return to Colorado Springs for training camp in June.

Since the event’s inception in 1993, the United States has captured four AmeriCup gold medals, including titles in 2019 and 2021. In addition to the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Venezuela will participate in the 2023 FIBA AmeriCup. The draw is set to take place May 10.
