Orange, Cardinals Meet for Second Time Sunday

The Syracuse women’s basketball team hosts Louisville on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 12 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome. Fans are encouraged to wear orange for an Orange Out as Syracuse celebrates National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The game can be watched live on national TV on ACC Network.
 
On Thursday, senior guards Dyaisha Fair and Aliana Rice led the Orange to victory against Virginia, 90-72. Fair scored 36 points for the first 30-point game of her Syracuse career and went 8-for-11 helping Syracuse earn their season high with 12 threes. Her eight threes tied a single-game program record. Rice set a Syracuse career-high with 18 points and seven assists. Georgia Woolley added 17 points, making it her sixth game scoring in double figures this season.
 
Louisville lost to Wake Forest, 68-57, Thursday night on the road. Two Cardinals, Morgan Jones and Olivia Cochran, scored in double figures. Jones had 15 points and Cochran scored 11 points in the loss. It was the first time Wake Forest beat Louisville in program history.
 
 The Orange last faced Louisville earlier this season on Dec. 29, 2022. Louisville held off a late SU run to win, 86-77. Hailey Van Lith led the Cardinals with 24 points while Jones and Cochran both scored 15 points. Syracuse’s Teisha Hyman scored a season-high 27 points, shooting 11-for-20 from the field. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 17-6, and have won six straight. Syracuse’s last victory over Louisville was on Feb. 9, 2020 at home, 59-51, when the Cardinals were ranked No. 5.
 
Fans unable to attend Sunday’s game can watch live on ACCN with Ben Shulman ’22 (play by play) and Brooke Weisbrod (analyst) on the call and as always, listen to Tim Leonard ’20 call the game on ESPN Syracuse radio (97.7). Tip-off is set for 12 p.m. in the Dome.
